Frequently Asked Questions
About Resource Uganda
What is Resource Uganda?
Resource Uganda is a charity based in the UK which supports the work of Ministry Resourcing International in Uganda. Areas we invest into are leadership development, community impact, distributing resources and internal mission exchange.
How did Resource Uganda begin?
Resource Uganda began in early 2010. Two founders Dan Hoyle and Heulwen Philpot had spent 6 months in Uganda in 2008 where they had forged connections with Richard Tuhumwire a local church planter / management consultant with a vision to equip and develop struggling churches in the nation. Richard led a organisation called Ministry Resourcing International (MRI) which was the mechanism for his vision. We saw that Richard was unique in his context and an opportunity presented itself to support a ministry which we saw could have a huge impact in the nation of Uganda and beyond. It was from this opportunity that Resource Uganda came about. Originally Resource Uganda was called Ministry Resourcing International UK. We soon realised this was a confusing name in the UK context and rebranded simply as Resource Uganda.
Who leads Resource Uganda?
Resource Uganda is led by a Leadership Team (link to UK team). We also have a board of trustees, the majority of whom are also part of the Leadership Team. All our team are professionals with full time jobs, and serve Resource Uganda in their spare time.
Where is Resource Uganda based?
Our team is spread across the UK, and we don’t have any offices. Our registered address is: 5 Stainton, Barnard Castle, DL12 8RB. If you want to get in touch, the best way is via e-mail to info@resourceuganda.org.uk, or via our contact page.
Finances
How is Resource Uganda funded?
As a charity, we are funded mainly by the generosity of our donors through regular giving and grants. We also sell Kisa Beads, and some other resources from which we derive a small income.
How do you decide where to spend money?
Each year we make an annual work plan and develop a budget around this. Our work plan will always align to vision and values. Lots of good opportunities may arise but if they do not align with our vision and values, we won’t invest.
How do you know the money is used correctly
We have excellent relationships with our partners in Uganda who are committed to the highest standards of diligence and integrity. All spending in the UK and Uganda is recorded with an auditable papertrail which is regularly reviewed against our budget to ensure funds are used correctly.

About projects
What is the Kisenyi Project
The Kisenyi Project is our flagship community impact project in the village of Kisenyi in the Mukono District of Uganda. Many of our current team played a large part in establishing this project on the ground in Uganda, and this was the first project Resource Uganda funded. Since its beginnings in 2010, the Kisenyi Project has served the community with adult literacy, children's work, sports evangelism, income generating groups, and discipleship groups. We have also invested in safe and clean sanitation solutions for the village. The Kisenyi Project was the foundation for the establishing of New Life Church in Kisenyi in March 2013 which has a growing congregation currently standing at 50 strong.
What is mission exchange
Mission Exchange is a program in Uganda whereby a team is formed and sent to a church in another part of the country. Once there the team serve for a period of 1-3 weeks and are hosted by the receiving church. The receiving church then sends a team to the first sending church, hence the term ‘exchange’. This allows people to grow in their capacity as they experience the demands of a new and different context. This also forms great relationships between like minded churches in Uganda.
